Leaving Academia: What you take with you

Though always in line with the academic setting, my career path has veered in directions I never would have thought possible.  Now, a few years down the road and with varied experiences under my belt, the sad realization has become more apparent to me that an academic career is not going to materialize. The simple truth is that I would not be the right fit for academia.
