What does a Scientific Director at a Foundation do?

I have yet to come up with a perfectly
clear and concise description of my job.
The reason for this is that what I do changes from day to day and from
week to week. The official description
of my job as Scientific Director is: “overseeing the Foundation’s three grant
programs ($10 million annual budget) and serving as the primary liaison between
current and former award recipients, the Foundation, and its private and
corporate sponsors.” This encompasses
much of what I do, but it really just skims the surface.
